    TSLA

    12/4/15
    Ms. Patterson,

I'm with the Guardrail Detachment. First of all I would like to thank you for the care packages. They are a ray of light and bring smiles to everyone's face whenever they see it arrive.

Thank you again for taking the time to put all of these together.

    Dear Ms. Patterson-

I received two of your packages and very sincerely thank you all for your kindness and generosity. It's easy to forget to say it or become too busy to write, but I wanted you to know that we all really appreciate the thoughtfulness and the time you put into these. Thank you very much.

I am a combat engineer officer in the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Polk, Louisiana. We are currently serving in northeastern Afghanistan near the city of Jalalabad. Our mission is to train, advise and assist an Afghan National Army Corps to better provide security for the people of northeast Afghanistan against insurgents.

This is my third deployment to Afghanistan. In 2010, I led a company searching for roadside bombs north of Kandahar. In 2007, I designed and built roads, bridges and bases all throughout eastern Afghanistan. Before that, I served in Iraq twice finding and destroying roadside bombs, destroying weapon and ammunition caches, and rebuilding Iraqi sewage and trash facilities.

I am married and have three kids in elementary and middle school. Besides Fort Polk, we have lived at Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Hood, Texas; and Hanover, New Hampshire. My wife and I are both from Texas, though, and got married in Caldwell after we finished college at Texas A&M.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness. I really appreciate it and hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas.

    Sincerely,

    Major Chris Ingenloff
